One of the nation's top college basketball programs just lost its third game of the season.

No. 17 NC State entered its contest against Wake Forest with a 14-2 record, though found itself in a dogfight after the first half.

After 20 minutes, Wake Forest dominated its way to a 42-27 lead thanks to a hot-shooting start to the contest.

NC State entered the game as a nine-point favorite, but the Wolfpack must have overlooked the Demon Deacons - at least in the first half. The Wolfpack tried valiantly to make a comeback in the second half, and nearly pulled it off.

However, the Demon Deacons were just too much to handle en route to a 71-67 win.

Wake Forest entered the game as a sub-.5oo team, but with the dominant performance Tuesday night, leaves with an 8-8 record.

Meanwhile, the Wolfpack leave the game with their third loss on the season - the only loss to come against an unranked opponent.
