Recruiting Experts Have "Clear No. 1 Pick" As Favorite To Land 5-Star SF Zion Williamson

Zion Williamson is not the No. 1 player in the class of 2018, but he might be the most well known thanks to his oft-viral massive dunks.

Williamson is a composite five-star player and the No. 2 player in the country, per 247Sports.

The main contenders in his recruitment have been Clemson, Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, and UCLA. However, recruiting experts seem to believe one of those programs stands out from the rest.

The Herald-Leaderasked five of the nation's leading recruiting analysts—Jeff Borzello (ESPN), Evan Daniels (Scout), Corey Evans (Rivals), Jerry Meyer (ESPN), and Andrew Slater (247Sports)—to rank the top three contenders for Williamson each. The clear winner of this exercise? The Wildcats.

The Wildcats were the clear No. 1 pick among the national experts. The majority of the top recruiting analysts put UK at the top of their lists, and none of the five had the Cats lower than No. 2, a great sign for John Calipari as he welcomes Williamson and his family to Lexington this weekend.

While Kentucky leading for a giant national recruit would not be any big surprise, it does clash with what has gone on over at 247's crystal ball, which currently has Kansas with a 43-percent lead over Kentucky's 29-percent. Duke comes in at 14-percent, and UNC 7-percent in that breakdown.

Other offers for Williamson include Arizona, Arizona State, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Louisville, and NC State.
