Texas Sends Arizona Football Hand Written Notes After Passing Of Zach Hemmila
Zach Hemmila, a redshirt senior offensive lineman who was in line to start for the Arizona Wildcats this season, suddenly passed away in his sleep earlier this month.
Multiple teams reached out to Arizona after the news broke on August 8 offering their sympathies to the Wildcats. Charlie Strong and the Texas Longhorns took things to the next level.
The team sent Arizona a bunch of hand-written notes, telling the Pac-12 program that the Longhorns are keeping them in their thoughts this season. It is an incredibly classy gesture by Strong and his team.
Arizona wide receiver Nate Phillips posted a nice note thanking Texas to Instagram.
After the passing of our teammate Zach Hemmila, the University of Texas football program had their players and coaches sign these for us sending their prayers. We appreciate the first class gesture and we thank you. We are wishing you well in this up coming season. #Hook'em #BearDown #Forever65
The San Francisco 49ers also sent a team card to Arizona.
This is a fantastic job by both the Longhorns and the Niners. We once again give our condolences to the Hemmila family and the entire Arizona football community as they work through this trying time.
