Even for dominant teams, going undefeated in college football isn't easy. We've seen plenty of top programs lose focus and drop games here and there, like Ohio State in recent seasons against Purdue and Iowa, and the Clemson Tigers against Pitt and Syracuse.

This year, Clemson spent time under a microscope because of a weaker schedule. The ACC is way down from where it was a few years ago, and the Tigers ran through it for the second year in a row.

Ultimately, it didn't matter. It is hard to find a path to excluding an undefeated Power Five team from the College Football Playoff. Clemson is the No. 3 seed in the upcoming tournament, set to face No. 2 Ohio State in the semifinal at the Fiesta Bowl.

The Tigers have had a ton of postseason success against the Buckeyes in the past. This is clearly the most difficult test they will have had this year, and they're still fielding questions about the schedule.

Star linebacker Isaiah Simmons had a great response to a question about how the Tigers have been tested this season. He says the team has been "playing ourselves" every week, a nod to the pressure that comes with a long winning streak like Clemson's.

Clemson faced similar questions last season, and as the No. 2 seed, the Tigers beat Notre Dame by 27 and then Alabama by 28 points in the national title. Some questions are natural, but if there's any program equipped to handle them and reject the premise, it is Clemson. [

Asked Clemson LB Isaiah Simmons about the narrative that they haven’t been tested like the other playoff teams:

“No, I don’t think that’s true. ... Each week we’re playing ourselves. I would say if you had to play Clemson 12 times a year, it would be a pretty tough schedule."
