Report: Jim Calhoun To Join ESPN's College Basketball Coverage
Many coaches spend time at ESPN after retiring or being fired, but usually they need to relocate near the network's Bristol, Connecticut studios. According to a report by The Big Lead, the Worldwide Leader's newest analyst will have a pretty easy commute, and brings a resume that is beyond reproach. Legendary UConn men's basketball coach Jim Calhoun will be joining ESPN's college basketball coverage.
ESPN plans to add Jim Calhoun to its college basketball coverage this upcoming season, multiple sources tell The Big Lead. Plans are still fluid, but the former UConn coach will provide regular analysis in the Bristol studio. Calhoun will be the third former head coach that ESPN is adding this year, joining Stan Heath (Arkansas) and Barack Obama’s brother-in-law Craig Robinson (Oregon State).
Calhoun makes perfect sense for ESPN. He's still very sharp, and involved with the UConn program, he lives in state, and he's one of the sport's greatest coaches. He's also incredibly outspoken—don't be surprised if Calhoun gets into a bit of hot water every so often—but as we know, ESPN will probably welcome that.
