Tim Tebow is trying to make a comeback - on the baseball diamond. ESPN reported earlier today that the 28-year-old quarterback is pursuing a professional baseball career.

Tim Tebow played baseball through his junior year of high school before focusing solely on football. He hit above .400 as a junior and was an all-state performer in Florida while leading his high school to the final four of the state championships.

What's Tim Tebow the baseball player look like these days?

Here's a video of him taking some cuts in the batting cage recently.

It's a long swing that needs some work.

Tebow has some believers, though.

Former MLB outfielder Gary Sheffield, a nine-time All-Star, has been present at some of Tebow's workouts. He says Tebow can "absolutely" play in the big leagues.

Tebow would've been an MLB Draft pick out of high school if he wasn't so set on paying football at Florida.

From WEEI:

“€œHe had a strong arm and had a lot of power. If he would have been there his senior year he definitely would have had a good chance to be drafted,”€ said Red Sox Florida scout Stephen Hargett, who worked with the Angels. “He had leverage to his swing. He had some natural loft. He had some good power. He was a good athlete. He had had enough arm for that position. He was a left-handed hitter with strength and some size.

“€œHe stood out. Right when you walked up to the field, he passed the body test. He was bigger and stronger than everybody. I think of how big he is, with an average junior or senior in high school being 5-foor-10, 160 pounds. This guy is 6-foot-4, 200 pounds. ‘€¦ It was just easy for him. You thought, if this guy dedicated everything to baseball like he did to football how good could he be?”

Tebow reportedly has a workout scheduled with MLB teams for later this month, but he's already got a contract offer from an independent team. The Schaumberg Boomers of the independent Frontier League offered Tebow a contract worth $600/month earlier today.
