A Former No. 1 Recruit Announced His Transfer Destination On Saturday

Former five-star recruit Demetris Robertson is leaving Cal to continue his college football career. On Saturday, he announced that he will be a Georgia Bulldog.
Robertson is a Georgia native, who ranked No. 3 in the Peach State as a recruit in the class of 2016. He was the No. 1 wide receiver in the class, and the No. 13 player overall.
Georgia was one of the contenders to land Robertson out of high school. He ultimately went with the Golden Bears, but now, coming off of a national championship appearance, UGA got its second shot at landing the Savannah native.
He made the big announcement yesterday afternoon:
After a promising 2016 freshman season, Demetris Robertson was out with an injury for most of 2017.
Last year, he was officially deemed out for the season after appearing in just two games for Cal. He had surgery on an undisclosed "lower body injury," and would have been eligible to take a medical redshirt.
It is unclear whether or not he will be able to play right away for Georgia as a result. It would be a huge boost to the Dawgs' receiving corps if so.
In 2016, Robertson caught 50 passes for 767 yards and seven touchdowns as a true freshman.
Back in June, Robertson announced the decision to transfer, citing "personal matters" as to why he is leaving Berkeley. Now, he'll be much closer to home to continue his career.
