Greg McElroy's ties to Alabama are certainly strong, but the former quarterback isn't afraid to express his fondness for Georgia. He's pretty confident that head coach Kirby Smart will lead his team to a national title in the near future.

McElroy was on the SEC Network's Thinking Out Loud with Marcus Spears on Wednesday.

During the show, McElroy and Spears discussed hypotheticals for the SEC within a five-year span. One of the questions pertained to Georgia and its chances of winning a national title.

Regardless of his connection with the Crimson Tide, McElroy made it clear that the Bulldogs will be a threat to win the College Football Playoff.

Although McElroy wasn't super confident in Georgia winning this year's Playoff, he does think 2020 will be the year the program snaps its championship drought.

Via 247Sports:

“It might be this year,” McElroy said about Georgia’s title chances. “I really like what Georgia brings back this year. I think next year is their year. So if I were to tell you the year they were going to win the national championship, I’d say 2020. Fromm will be a senior, they will still have one of the best offensive lines in college football and I feel like that defensive playmaker along the front four will maybe have grown into himself at that point. That’s still a position that I’m still a little questionable on as far as their contention this upcoming season.”

What makes McElroy's prediction even bolder is that he has Jake Fromm returning for his senior season.

If Fromm does actually stay for all four years, it'll open up the championship window for the Bulldogs.

Georgia fans - do you think the program will win a title within the next two years?
