Kansas State junior guard Amaad Wainright was reportedly arrested by U.S. Marshals on Monday.

The specific reason for Wainright's arrest is not specified. KSHB in Kansas City only states that he had a warrant out in Johnson County.

Wainright played in all but one game for the Wildcats this year: the January 20 game against TCU. There is no formal connection made yet between the two at this time.

On January 17, Wainright was involved in a shooting case. Police listed him as an "involved other," in what has been called a road rage issue. No one was injured in the incident.

Wainright was not charged in connection to the incident at the time. From The Wichita Eagle:

Wainright is considered an “involved other” in the case, according to a copy of the incident report, which lists three crimes — aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, criminal damage to property (estimated at $1,500) and criminal discharge of a firearm. The crimes were the result of a road-rage incident at about 5 p.m. along I-435 between State Line and Roe in Overland Park. They were reported three hours later.

During the altercation, a passenger in Wainright’s car fired a gun into the back seat of another car. No one was injured. Overland Park police spokesman John Lacy told KCTV5 there were two people in the vehicle belonging to Wainright.

Amaad Wainright missed the TCU game, but was not formally suspended.

In Kansas State's statement following the initial incident, the school noted that he was not charged. It also stated that it felt the "matter is resolved" to its knowledge. Once again, there is no connection between this incident and the Monday arrest at this time.

Amaad Wainright averaged 2.9 points and 2.3 rebounds per game for the Wildcats. He played in all four of Kansas State's NCAA Tournament games this March. We'll have more on this story as it comes out, as details on his arrest are extremely scant right now.

Update: Kansas State has issued a statement on Wainright's arrest. He's been indefinitely suspended from the basketball program. More as we learn it.

Update 2: Wainright faces two felony charges, related to the January road rage shooting incident. It is unclear what changed since the initial incident, from which he was initially not charged.
