Earlier Friday morning, Kentucky forward Kevin Knox was named as one of the current college basketball players identified in Yahoo! Sports' report. The big question is whether Knox and the others involved have eligibility concerns moving forward.
Head coach John Calipari was asked that question during a Friday afternoon press conference. Calipari fielded questions about the future of Kentucky basketball, and whether or not its star would be eligible to play.
After being asked specifically about Knox's availability going forward, Calipari wasn't definitive. However the coach does think that he'll be able to play in Kentucky's game against Missouri on Saturday night.
The Yahoo report lists Knox as one of the players that met or ate with Charles Dawkins, a former associate of Andy Miller and employee at ASM Sports. The agency reportedly supplied financial incentives to amateur players.
Kevin Knox's father had the following to say about the investigation. From SEC Country:
“Obviously the investigation is still going on, but the only comment I can say is I’ve never met Christian Dawkins before or Andy Miller, and if they sat next to me at the grocery store, I wouldn’t know who they were,” Kevin Knox Sr. said. “Out of respect for the NCAA investigation and the University of Kentucky investigation into this, I’d just say that I’ve never met Christian Dawkins or Andy Miller before and leave it at that.”
Kevin Knox is a major player for the Wildcats this season, averaging 15.4 points and 5.6 rebounds. Former Kentucky stars Nerlens Noel and Bam Adebayo reportedly received loans, according to Dawkins's sheet.
As of now, Knox will be eligible to play Saturday night. Kentucky and Missouri tip off at 8:15 p.m. ET on ESPN.
