Kentucky Loses At Home To Georgia

No more 34 home game winning streak.

Score: No. 13 Georgia 75, No. 8 Kentucky 71

Star(s): UK: A'dia Mathies 18 Pts, 5 Reb, 4 Ast, 2 Blk, 1 Stl. UGA: Khaalidah Miller 25 Pts, 2 Reb, 2 Ast.

Story: Kentucky fell at Memorial Coliseum to a physical Georgia team in front of the second highest attendance of the year.

After leading at half and throughout the majority of the game, the UK Hoops team couldn't pull through in the last four minutes of the game.

First, A'dia Mathies turned the ball over with an offensive foul. Then, UK's Jennifer O'Neill was called for a foul on the other end, allowing UGA to take the lead. With 20 seconds left in the game, Samarie Walker missed two free throws that would have pulled the Cats within one. UK's final possession of the game ended with another turnover by O'Neill, who had a total of eight on the night. This UGA win snapped a 34 straight home winning streak for the Wildcats.

Jennifer O'Neill, who was upset with herself at press conference, said that the amount of turnovers she had was "unacceptable."

Matthew Mitchell was also upset with himself saying that he "didn't do a very good job at holding them to a high standard." "We were not ready to function in this game when it really mattered," Coach Mitchell said.

UK has two consecutive road games coming up, first at Arkansas on Thursday and then at Vanderbilt on Sunday.
