Kentucky football doesn't get the attention that its heralded basketball program does, but last season's 10-win campaign, with a bowl win over Penn State, brought more eyes on the Wildcats. One of the team's new freshmen quarterbacks, Nik Scalzo, is set to have an interesting platform all his own.

Scalzo is one of three former high school quarterbacks being profiled in Netflix's new season of the docuseries QB1: Beyond the Lights, which hit the service Friday. He's joined by Oklahoma's Spencer Rattler, the No. 1 quarterback in the 2019 class, and Maryland's Lance LeGendre.

Unfortunately for Scalzo, just as his streaming star turn begins, his immediate future on the field could be in question. He suffered what is believed to be a knee injury during the team's last scrimmage.

The severity is unclear as of now, but after the session head coach Mark Stoops said he is a "little bit concerned" about the injury.

This news is particularly rough, considering a knee injury derailed his senior high school season. Scalzo tore an ACL last November.

The Florida native wound up as the No. 1235 player in the class. 247Sports' composite ranked him at No. 28 among dual-threat quarterbacks, and No. 169 overall in the Sunshine State.

He wasn't expected to see much time, if any this year. Kentucky returns Terry Wilson, who was an effective starter last season, and brought in Troy transfer Sawyer Smith. Still, you never want to see someone dealing with knee issues, especially twice in two years.

We'll have more when the extent of the injury is known. Hopefully, this was just a minor issue.
