Kim Mulkey Gives First Public Comments After Washington Post Article
After over a week of speculation, the Washington Post finally published its profile on LSU women's basketball coach Kim Mulkey.
There were plenty of rumors regarding the Washington Post's story. Some even thought it'd be damaging to Mulkey's career. That wasn't the case.
Before LSU's matchup against UCLA this Saturday, Mulkey was asked about the Washington Post's article regarding her life and career.
Mulkey said she hasn't read the story yet. She claims her attorneys will look at it, though.
"So you're the bearer of good news or bad news," Mulkey said. "Are you really surprised by the timing of it? I can tell you I haven't read it. I don't know that I will read it. I'll leave it up to my attorneys."
Last week, Mulkey went on a long-winded rant about this story from the Washington Post. She even suggested she'd take legal action if the story was false.
"This is exactly why people don’t trust journalists and the media anymore,” Mulkey said. “It’s these kinds of sleazy tactics and hatchet jobs that people are tired of. I’m fed up, and I’m not going to let the Washington Post attack this university, this awesome team of young women I have, or me without a fight.
"I've hired the best defamation law firm in the country, and I will sue the Washington Post if they publish a false story on me. Not many people are in a position to hold these kinds of journalists accountable but I am, and I’ll do it."
Mulkey, a four-time NCAA champion, is currently focused on the tournament. She's trying to lead LSU to back-to-back titles.
