Miami Permanently Dismisses Al-Quadin Muhammad, Jermaine Grace For "Violating NCAA Rules"

Miami has permanently dismissed two players for "violating NCAA rules."

Saturday afternoon, Miami announced that it has permanently dismissed two of its players - Al-Quadin Muhammad and Jermaine Grace - for what it's calling a violation of NCAA rules. Muhammad is a junior defensive end, while Grace is a senior linebacker. Both were expected to play huge roles for the team on defense this upcoming season.

Here's Miami's statement on the matter. The school will continue to pay their financial aid through graduation.

"The University of Miami announced today that red-shirt junior Al-Quadin Muhammad and senior Jermaine Grace have been permanently dismissed from the Hurricanes football program for violating NCAA rules. The University will, however, continue their financial aid through graduation. The decision was made in consultation with outside counsel and after discussions with the NCAA enforcement staff. As no staff members or boosters were involved in the violations, the program will not be subject to sanctions and, at this time, the University deems this matter closed."

Obviously, the timing here isn't fantastic given the fact that the season starts next weekend. The Hurricanes will take on Florida A&M next Saturday at 6:00 p.m. ET.

Update: ESPN's Andrea Adelson is reporting that both players were accused to improperly using luxury cars.

More as we learn it.
