Video: Tom Izzo Gives Awesome Congratulatory Message To Tim Miles, "I Don't Even Know Why I'm Doing This...I Really Don't Like You"
The Nebraska men's basketball team held its annual banquet in Lincoln Monday evening. The Huskers had a lot to celebrate, as the program made the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1998. They won 19 games, including 11 Big Ten contests. Nebraska also honored its coach, Tim Miles, who won the Big Ten's Coach of the Year award.
During the banquet, Michigan State's Tom Izzo congratulated his college on the award, via the video posted below.
Nebraska beat Michigan State in the teams' lone meeting of the season, 60-51, in East Lansing, Mich. Izzo speaks of that contest during his speech:
“I also wanted to congratulate you on your (Big Ten) Coach of the Year award. I didn’t get any flowers, candy, anything for being a big instrumental part in that, by the way you kicked our but here later on in February. I don’t know why the hell I’m even doing this congratulatory video because I really don’t like you. You cost us a lot this year. You probably cost us a chance to win the Big Ten the way we never recovered from that.
“On a serious note, I’m glad to have Nebraska in the league. I can’t wait to see your new arena, I hear it’s phenomenal. I really appreciate the job you did this year and how you did it. My first time I came to Nebraska was with Nick Saban back I think in 1995, and I think you beat us 55-3 in football, and people were so good and kind. I hope it remains that way. I hope you have a hell of a night, and congratulations on your award.”
