James Franklin Suggests That Penn State Could Wear Pink And Black Uniforms In The Future
Penn State possesses some of the most iconic uniforms in all of college football. The blue and white jerseys and pants, the white helmets with the blue stripe down the center and the black shoes are among the most recognizable in the sport because of their simplicity. However, after Penn State basketball wore special pink and black jerseys last week, some have wondered if the football team could follow suit.
Nittany Lions coach James Franklin addressed this topic on Sunday night, and while he was non-committal, he was hopeful that the school could possibly bust out special uniforms down the road.
"I saw the tweets that went out, and some of the pictures of uniforms that people had created," Franklin said on a bowl game conference call Sunday night. "They looked really cool. I think the basketball team has done it, so hopefully that opens up the possibility of those things."
Franklin also said that, due to how passionate fans are about the current uniforms and how much time it would take for something new to be designed by Nike, it could take some time before this would become a reality.
Penn State's original colors were pink and black, so going with a new uniform combination would pay homage to the team's jerseys in the late-1800s. What do you think, should Penn State try something new in the future?
