Orange Easily Handles Providence At Home, #Boeheimburg Grows

Now for the main event.

Score: No. 8 Syracuse 84, Providence 59

Star(s): Syracuse:C.J. Fair 20 Pts, 10 Reb. James Southerland 20 Pts, 6 Reb. Michael Carter-Williams 15 Pts 12 Ast.

Story: When looking through the schedule a few weeks ago, I had this one pegged as a "trap game". It looked like a game that might be overlooked with the Georgetown game this Saturday. Honestly, it was overlooked by me, as my preparations for Georgetown began earlier this week. But the boys in Orange didn't overlook this one.

Even with Providence playing its best basketball of the season, SU really put away the Friars in the first half. It was never really much of a competition. You can tell because the walk-ons got in the game. That NEVER happens in Big East play. It was good to see Carter-Williams returning to his old assisting ways, especially since he only registered two turnovers in the process. Southerland also appears to be back in rhythm after his short stint on the sidelines.

Immediately after the Providence game, students started the campout for Georgetown. There are now 57 groups outside of gates E and D at the Carrier Dome. The students call the camping area "Boeheimburg". Here are a few tweets from on location:
