Chris Weinke - Florida State (1999)

Weinke was initially recruited in 1990 by Florida State, but chose to pursue a baseball career instead. After returning to campus at age 25, Weinke, in his junior season, was able to lead the Seminoles to a national championship by defeating Virginia Tech in the Sugar Bowl.

Weinke also went on to win the Heisman Trophy in his senior year at age 28 and was drafted in the fourth round of the 2001 NFL Draft. Though Weinke’s NFL career wasn’t spectacular, he did help pave the way for players like Oklahoma State’s Brandon Weeden to be able to play college football at an older age.
