While the Chicago Bears will enter today’s postseason matchup as the favorites over the Philadelphia Eagles, the statuses of Eddie Jackson and Trey Burton will play a huge role in this game.
The Bears have been relentless on defense this season, and Jackson has been one of the biggest reasons for it. His ability to make the correct reads on incoming passes is the reason he finished the year with six interceptions.
As for Burton, the versatile pass-catcher has become a reliable target for Mitch Trubisky. He finished the regular season with 54 receptions for 569 yards and six touchdowns.
Unfortunately for Chicago, Burton won’t have the opportunity to play against his former team in the Eagles. He’ll be inactive for this postseason matchup.
The absence of Burton could affect Chicago’s success on screens and the overall passing game.
It’s not all bad news for the Bears though, as Jackson will return to the gridiron later this afternoon. Having the former Alabama star in the secondary will provide a tremendous boost for Vic Fangio’s unit.
Eddie Jackson is active. Trey Burton is inactive.
