Dallas Cowboys star quarterback Dak Prescott is facing some criticism for a comment he made about New England Patriots QB Tom Brady and his wife, Gisele Bunchden. The comments were made regarding Brady’s contract decisions over the years.
Prescott, who is reportedly set to receive a big contract extension this offseason, talked about how Brady – who has repeatedly taken less money than he could’ve gotten – might be more able to take those pay cuts because of how much money his supermodel wife, Gisele, is bringing in each year.
“Nobody’s wife makes as much money as his wife does either,” Prescott told USA TODAY. “When Tom Brady isn’t the breadwinner in the home, then that’s a great problem to have. So in that case, he can do that. He can do his contract however you want to do it.”
That’s a fair comment.
Of course, though, Prescott is facing some criticism for it.
Most notably, FOX Sports 1’s Colin Cowherd was not a fan of it.
“NFL quarterbacks and NBA stars know that career longevity and elevation is secured by not being the highest-paid guy,” Cowherd said in response to Prescott’s comments.

Colin Cowherd reacts to Cowboys QB Dak Prescott’s comments that Tom Brady can afford to take less money because he’s married to Giselle. He thinks Dak is clearly mistaken about Brady’s motivation and should seriously consider doing the same thing if he wants to stay relevant and competitive. Dak will more than make up for the loss of salary with endorsements should he lead the Cowboys to a championship.
Prescott, 25, is set to become one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL this offseason. While Prescott might not have reached elite NFL quarterback status yet, he’s likely deserving of the massive extension coming his way.
