ESPN’s Adam Schefter Reveals What Eagles Want For Nick Foles

On Saturday afternoon, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the Philadelphia Eagles are expected to pick up the $20 million option on backup quarterback Nick Foles, tying him to the team for the 2019 season.

Rapoport suggested Foles plans to give the team $2 million to become a free agent, but that the Eagles will likely franchise tag the reigning Super Bowl MVP and then work him to find a trade partner.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter confirmed the report, noting the Eagles are expected to pick up the option and then trade Foles.

So, what are the Eagles hoping to get for their backup quarterback?

According to the report from Schefter, the team is hoping to land a third-round pick for Foles.

The Eagles refused to specify any of their plans for Foles. But being that other teams already have inquired on Foles’ price, and it is expected to be around a third-round pick, the way for Philadelphia to secure its quarterback’s rights this offseason would be with a franchise tag.

Schefter mentioned several teams have already inquired about a potential Foles trade, though did not mention specifically which teams are involved.

Placing the franchise tag on Foles will likely cost the Eagles around $25 million.
