The Chiefs released a statement saying the team is aware of the incident. “The club is aware of the investigation involving Tyreek Hill,” the team said in a statement.
“We’re in the process of gathering information and have been in contact with the league and local authorities. We’ll have no further comment at this time.”
Hill allegedly punched and choked Espinal in December 2014, leading to his release from the Oklahoma State football program. He pleaded guilty to domestic assault and battery by strangulation in August 2015 and received three years probation.
The conviction was dismissed in August 2018 after Hill completed his probation requirements.
He went on to become a fifth-round pick by the Chiefs.
According to multiple reports, the team was preparing to make the star wide receiver one of the highest-paid players in the game.
