This makes sense.
Cooks has reportedly been on the trading block this offseason – his contract is up soon and the Saints have some talented young wide receivers – and the Patriots just signed cornerback Stephon Gilmore to a big deal. It seems unlikely that Butler is going to get the kind of contract he wants in New England.
Swapping Cooks for Butler could be a trade that makes a lot of sense for both teams.
Updates to come.
