How Much Club Pro Michael Block Is Set To Make From PGA Championship
Golf club professionals can make a decent living, but their salaries pale in comparison to what the PGA Tour stars can make.
Michael Block is set to learn that the great way on Sunday afternoon.
Block, the beloved PGA Club Professional, just finished his final round at the PGA Championship on Sunday. His final round - highlighted by a hole-in-one on the 15th hole - has him in a tie for 15th place.
To date, Block's biggest paycheck from life as a professional golfer is $75,000 - a nice chunk of change, for sure, but nothing compared to what he'll get on Sunday.
According to CBS Sports, here are the payouts for the golfers in the top 20:
1st (Winner): $3,150,000
2nd: $1,890,000
3rd: $1,190,000
4th: $840,000
5th: $700,000
6th: $620,000
7th: $575,000
8th: $535,000
9th: $500,000

11th: $430,000
12th: $395,000

14th: $335,000
15th: $309,000
16th: $288,000
17th: $268,000
18th: $248,000
19th: $228,000
20th: $213,000
Block has been earning a living as a club professional and golf instructor, where he charges less than $200 an hour for lessons.
“Actually, it’s $150 for an hour, it hasn’t been updated,” Block, laughing, told CBS’ Trevor Immelman earlier in the tournament.
“I give a couple lessons and I’ve learned, the people I give lessons to are the people I like to hang out with. The first 10-15 years while I was instructing I would say yes to everybody because I was trying to put a dollar in the bank and raise a couple boys and be along with my wife.
“Now I’ve been fortunate enough to play decent golf over the last couple years and make enough money to where I don’t have to grind it out on the range all day long. So now I give usually about two to three lessons a week to people that I love to be around.”
