The Irish went down.

Notre Dame lost its second game of the season at the hands of Ball State despite being an 18-point favorite entering the contest.

The Fighting Irish outscored the Cardinals in the second half, barely, but couldn't overcome a poor first half. Although the Irish shot well, they were dominated on the boards by a 40-26 margin, including 13-4 on the offensive glass.

The in-state contest gave Ball State its fifth win of the season.

Tayler Persons paced the Cardinals with 24 points while Bonzie Colson did his best to keep the Irish in the game with a game-high 26 on the night.

Notre Dame slides to 7-2, while Ball State improves to 5-4.
