Brian Kelly Announces Punishment For Notre Dame Players

Brian Kelly has decided on punishment for the six Notre Dame players arrested this weekend.

The Fighting Irish's coach announced this afternoon that safety Max Redfield has been dismissed from the program while cornerback Devin Butler has been indefinitely suspended.

Redfield was arrested for possession of an unregistered handgun and marijuana after getting pulled over and Butler was arrested for battery to law enforcement and resisting law enforcement.

The other players arrested will be punished internally, Kelly said.

Notre Dame opens its season on Sept. 4 against Texas.
