With Notre Dame quarterback Ian Book slated not to play against FSU this weekend, the QB duties will fall to Brandon Wimbush.
On Thursday, Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly addressed the status of the senior QB slated to start.
Kelly spoke glowingly about Wimbush, complimenting him for improving his mechanics and balance. He used the word “championship quality” to describe his QBs reps as well.
“The QB that is taking reps of us is a guy you would say of championship quality,” Kelly said.
Brian Kelly says Brandon Wimbush has improved his balance throwing the football and has fine-tuned his mechanics. “The QB that is taking reps of us is a guy you would say of championship quality."

Wimbush was Notre Dame’s starter in 2017, but lost his starting job to Ian Book prior to the start of the season.
In 2017, he had 1,870 passing yards, 804 rushing yards, 16 passing TDs, 14 rushing TDs, and six INTs.
Wimbush led the Fighting Irish to 9-3 record as a starter (he missed one game), including a win over LSU in the Citrus Bowl, though it was Book that came in and wound up being the key quarterback in that one.
Notre Dame is undefeated, but may still need to win out to have a shot at the College Football Playoff.
