Brian Kelly probably isn't going to be fired, but his seat might be getting warmer.
Notre Dame is 4-7 this season and will probably finish the year 4-8 (the Fighting Irish play against USC this weekend). Today, the NCAA announced that Notre Dame's football program committed violations during the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons, causing the school to vacate games and go on probation. (To those violations Kelly says he has zero culpability.)
Kelly, who's 59-30 as Notre Dame's head coach, was asked today if he thinks he'll be the Fighting Irish's head coach in 2017.
His response, from Pete Sampson of Irish Illustrated.
Notre Dame's athletic director said in October that Kelly will be returning to the program in 2017.
No one in college football has ever gone back on their word regarding the status of a job, right?
Notre Dame and USC are set to kick off at 3:30 p.m. E.T. on ABC Saturday.
