On Saturday afternoon the College Football Playoff kicked off with a match-up between No. 2 Clemson and No. 3 Notre Dame in the Cotton Bowl. After two quarters of play, the Tigers have proved they're the better team - at least so far.

Clemson holds a 23-3 advantage at the half, thanks to a late touchdown drive from freshman sensation Trevor Lawrence, who led the Tigers over 70 yards in under 20 seconds.

The Fighting Irish have been battling injuries all game, but one is making a huge difference in the game. Star corner Julian Love left the game in the first quarter and Clemson has gone after his replacement, Donte Vaughn, frequently - and with great success.

ESPN's Tom Rinaldi met up with Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly to get the latest on Love. He's out with a head injury.

It's a huge loss for Notre Dame. Love is one of the best corners in the country and his absence on the field has been felt severely on the defensive side of the ball.
