Brian Kelly: We Expect To Score More Points With Tommy Rees This Year

No more Turnover Tommy?

Notre Dame's Brian Kelly, like any good college football coach, believes in his kids. Earlier, we showed you the team's posted schedule, which includes the 2014 BCS National Championship Game. But he also seems more confident in his squad's ability to score points this year. The reason? Tommy Rees.

Yep, the same Tommy Rees who couldn't crack the starting lineup last season.

To be fair, Rees played "closer" in a number of games last season, often bailing out starter Everett Golson. But until Golson was suspended for the 2013 season due to "poor academic judgement", fans weren't expecting to see Rees on the field much during his senior campaign.

Again, part of Kelly's job is to show confidence in his players, and his best option (at the moment) is clearly Rees. But it's still curious that Kelly thinks Rees will lead the Irish to higher offensive output. If so, one questions why he was the backup in the first place.
