While many of us were deciding what to eat first on the 4th of July, 2020 cornerback Caleb Offord was making a far more important decision: Where to play college football.
On Thursday, Offord took to Twitter to announce that he would be playing college football for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The announcement comes two weeks after making his first and only official visit to the campus.
247Sports rates Offord as a three-star prospect and the No. 596 overall prospect in the country. He is the No. 45 cornerback in the nation, and the No. 14 prospect from the state of Missouri.
Notre Dame was among the most high-profile schools to offer Offord a scholarship. Several SEC schools including Arkansas, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt were vying for his services as well.

The addition of Offord gives Notre Dame 16 recruits in what has quietly been one of Brian Kelly’s best recruiting classes.
As of writing, Notre Dame’s 2020 recruiting class is ranked No. 6 in the nation by 247Sports. Since 2014, no other Notre Dame class has been ranked higher than 10th.
The Irish are coming off a 12-0 regular season that secured them their first-ever appearance in the College Football Playoff.
With Michigan and Georgia on their schedule next season, will the Irish go undefeated again in 2019?
