In sports, there are teams or programs that fans love to hate - mostly because they either carry a certain arrogance to them or they win too much. Sometimes, it's both.

Friday, ESPN's Trey Wingo, on his radio show with Mike Golic, gave an impromptu "most hated" list - listing out the five American teams that fans hate the most. Wingo's list comes in response to DeMarcus Cousins recently proclaiming that the Golden State Warriors are the "most hated" team in sports.

The list isn't especially controversial, but the order might be. Wingo believes that the Dallas Cowboys, despite not having won a Super Bowl in over two decades, are still the most hated team in sports.

The New England Patriots, which have won five Super Bowls in that time frame, are second on the list. The Patriots are looking to add a sixth in the coming weeks.

The New York Yankees, unsurprisingly, make the list at No. 3. They haven't won a title since 2009, but it's fair to say they've won their fair share of championships over the years.

The last two are collegiate programs. Duke basketball, under head coach Mike Krzyzewski, checks in at No. 4. Notre Dame football is No. 5.

In reality, Notre Dame could probably be higher on the list. The Fighting Irish are despised by fans of almost every college football fan base.

What would your top five be?
