Former Notre Dame RB Greg Bryant Jr. Passes Away After Shooting

Update No. 2: Bryant Jr.'s family confirmed to CBS 12 reporter Lynda Figueredo Sunday afternoon that the former Notre Dame running back has passed away from his injuries.

Update: Despite previous reports confirming Bryant Jr. had passed away, he is reportedly thankfully still alive. 

Earlier: Former Notre Dame and UAB running back Greg Bryant Jr. has passed away. Bryant Jr., 21, was reportedly shot in an incident on I-95 in Florida Friday night. He was one of two people in the car. The other person reportedly sustained minor injuries. Bryant Jr. was in critical condition this morning after being transported to the hospital. His high school program, Delray Beach’s American Heritage High School, released the tragic news. 

Many of Bryant Jr.'s current and former teammates, coaches and other football players have taken to Twitter to post tributes to him.

Bryant Jr. was a four-star running back in the 2013 class. He transferred out of Notre Dame in 2015, going to ASA Miami, a junior college in South Florida. Bryant Jr. signed with UAB in November 2015 and was expected to play for the Blazers next fall.

He totaled 303 yards and three touchdowns during two seasons with the Fighting Irish.
