#1 – Boise State 43, Oklahoma 42 (2007) – The 2007 Fiesta Bowl wasn’t the National Championship, but what occurred in Glendale may have been more significant.
Boise State, though undefeated, was a huge underdog against an Oklahoma team that had won the Big 12 – and it also had Adrian Peterson. So when the Broncos came out fired up and took an early lead, most figured the Sooners would eventually display their domination and take control. But at halftime, the Broncos led 21-10, and after another Boise State touchdown put them up 28-10, Oklahoma fans started to really worry.
The Sooners finally turned it on late in the 3rd quarter, and were able to rally and score 18 straight points to tie the game at 28-28 with just over a minute to go. Boise State tried to mount a last-minute drive, but Jared Zabransky’s first pass was intercepted and returned for a touchdown to give Oklahoma a 7-point lead.
With 18 seconds on the game clock, the Broncos faced 4th and 18 from their own 49 yard-line, trailing 35-28. If you haven’t seen the end of this one, check it out below. It ends with a marriage proposal (and acceptance)!
