Last week, it was revealed that both cornerback KeiVarae Russell and wide receiver DaVaris Daniels - two of Notre Dame's five suspended players - were not going to be afforded the chance to play for the program in 2014 due to the results of their hearings regarding the alleged academic scandal. At the time, Russell announced that he'd stick around and play for the Irish in 2015. Daniels went another route, as both he and his father claimed that he was "done" at the school. But it looks like both, in fact, may be returning next year after all.
Thursday, Russell posted a photo of Daniels to his Instagram page and claimed it is now "likely" that Daniels will return to South Bend for another year. He also took a shot at the media, which is a bit odd considering Daniels himself announced his intentions.
It's also a bit odd that Russell would be announcing something like this on behalf of Daniels, but it's clear that the two have talked. We'll see if Daniels comes out with anything official in the next day or two.
