The 2020 recruiting class is quickly becoming one that head coach Brian Kelly should be incredibly proud of. Notre Dame now boasts two five-star recruits in next year’s class, and hasn’t even done any extra work to make it happen.
A recent rankings update by 247Sports now lists Notre Dame running back Chris Tyree as a five-star prospect. The change also made it so that Tyree is now rated higher than fellow five-star Jordan Johnson.
The update now has Tyree as the No. 29 overall prospect in the country. He is the No. 1 all-purpose back in the nation, and the No. 1 prospect from the state of Virginia.
Tyree committed to Notre Dame back in May, picking the Irish over the likes of Alabama, Oklahoma, Penn State, and others.
A speedy back who can run a 4.38 40-time, Tyree rushed for a career-high 1,446 yards and 11 touchdowns for Thomas Dale High School last year.
Since his freshman year, he has totaled 3,275 rushing yards and 28 touchdowns on 387 carries. He’s also proven versatile in the passing game, adding another 36 catches for 511 receiving yards.
247Sports currently ranks Notre Dame’s Class of 2020 as the No. 8 class in the country.
