Notre Dame basketball may have won Saturday's game over Purdue, but the Irish suffered a major loss in the process. Star guard Rex Plueger is out for the season.

Pflueger confirmed today that he suffered a torn ACL against the Boilermakers. The senior standout played 30 minutes in the game before the injury, scoring seven points and distributing 10 assists.

"This is just one of life's crazy tests that I have prepared myself for with the loving help of my family and friends," Pflueger wrote on Twitter today. "I will continue to cheer and push my Notre Dame family to not only compete but to dominate for the rest of the season."

Pflueger was averaging 8.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.7 rebounds per game for the Fighting Irish this season. He is the only Notre Dame player remaining from the program's 2016 Elite Eight team. Pflueger showed off some of his leadership capabilities after getting hurt on Saturday, joining his teammates in a post-game celebration.

Notre Dame is 7-3 on the season. They will face Binghamton tomorrow.
