According to 247 Sports' Tom Loy, he received a job offer he could not turn down. Notre Dame's release goes on to explain that Elmer served as a Congressional intern in Washington, D.C. to John Moolenaar, who represents Michigan's Fourth District, last summer.
It'll be tough for Notre Dame fans to see him go.
