Notre Dame quarterback Brandon Wimbush announced his plans to move on from the Fighting Irish football program after the college football season came to an end earlier this week.
With a stellar record and 5-star pedigree, Wimbush carries one year of eligibility left if he decides to leave Notre Dame. A few potential transfer destinations popped up immediately after Wimbush announced his intentions to transfer from the Irish.
Ohio state was named as a possibility, but the Buckeyes landed former Georgia quarterback Justin Fields last weekend. Penn State was also floated as a possibility and was the favorite per Vegas odds, but a new team has reportedly emerged as the favorite.
According to Tom Loy of 247Sports, Wimbush is visiting UCF this weekend and is “heavily considering” a transfer to play for the Knights.
Multiple sources have informed me that #NotreDame QB Brandon Wimbush is heavily considering transferring to #UCF and that’s the team to beat. I’m told he’s actually visiting the Knights this weekend. Decision is expected soon https://t.co/RmfRNDkhGg #IrishIllustrated @247Sports pic.twitter.com/6YUGRS0r6A

UCF star quarterback McKenzie Milton is working to come back from a horrific leg injury he suffered during the season. It’s not known if Milton will be ready to go for the 2019 season, but if he is, there would be heavy competition between Wimbush and Milton.
Would Wimbush go to a school where he’s not guaranteed a starting role? Stay tuned.
