Notre Dame Star Defensive Lineman Jarron Jones "Getting Close" To Returning For Fighting Irish

Jarron Jones was supposed to be out for the entire 2015 college football season. Notre Dame's star defensive tackle tore his MCL in early August and it was expected that he'd miss his team's entire campaign.

He'll likely play again for Notre Dame this season, though, Brian Kelly said tonight.

Jones, a redshirt junior with serious NFL potential, has been progressing well. He's about three to four weeks away, per Kelly, meaning he should be back for the postseason.

If Notre Dame can find its way into the College Football Playoff, getting Jones back on the field will be a major boost to the Fighting Irish's chances.

Notre Dame and Boston College are set to kick off at 7:30 p.m. E.T. Saturday on NBC.
