After a week two bye, No. 7 Notre Dame gets back on the field this Saturday to face New Mexico. Both teams are 1-0 entering the match-up.
The Fighting Irish could use a dominant win. In their season opener versus Louisville, ND was rather unimpressive. Many expected a blowout, but the game was much closer than expected. If Notre Dame is going to live up to expectations, a big win over New Mexico would go a long way.
Quarterback Ian Book is hoping for a big performance in front of the home crowd. Book had 193 yards and a touchdown against Louisville. He’s helped by running back Tony Jones Jr. (15 carries for 11o yards and one touchdown).
New Mexico opened the year with a 39-31 win against Sam Houston State. The Lobos had 340 passing yards produced by two different quarterbacks. That’s because starter Brandt Hughes injured his shoulder — the injury will keep him out for the game against Notre Dame. Sheriron Jones is expected to start in his place.
