The Legends Trophy will on the line as Notre Dame heads to California for its rivalry game against the Stanford Cardinal.

The Fighting Irish have had yet another successful campaign and are on pace for their third straight double-digit win season. But they lost the only two games that mattered to their national title ambitions, falling to Georgia and Michigan. They're still a top 20 team on offense and defense, and are dangerous to any halfway decent team.

Stanford is in the midst of its worst season in over a decade, and is currently tied for the worst overall record in the Pac-12. At 4-7, the Cardinal are out of bowl contention. But they can still put a smile on head coach David Shaw's face if they can muster a win over the mighty Fighting Irish.

The bettors don't seem to like Stanford's chances though. Notre Dame is favored by over two touchdowns as the road team in this one.

Here are the details for the Notre Dame vs. Stanford game:

Game Time: 4:00 PM ET

Channel: FOX

Spread: Notre Dame -16

Over/Under: 46.5

Announcers: Tim Brando, Spencer Tillman, Coley Harvey

It's been a while since the Fighting Irish beat the Cardinal in California. Their last win over Stanford at Stanford Stadium was back in 2007.

In fact, Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly has a losing record against Stanford, losing six times in nine years.

Could this be the year that Kelly and the Irish finally buck the trend as the road team against Stanford?
