Notre Dame's KeiVarae Russell, On Instagram, Announces His Surgery Was A Success

This past Saturday, Notre Dame senior cornerback KeiVarae Russell broke his tibia against Boston College. Sunday, it was announced that he'd need to undergo season-ending surgery to repair the damage. It was also reported that he'd need to have a rod inserted into his leg to stabilize the injury.

Monday afternoon, Russell issued an update to his fans on Instagram. He called the surgery "successful", then joked that he should be called "Wolverine" now, given the metal in his leg. Check it out:

Russell put together a solid 2015 for the Fighting Irish after returning from a season-long suspension for academic misconduct. He'd posted 60 tackles and two interceptions in 11 games this year.
