A report today from the NY Post refutes claims made yesterday by Ronaiah Tuiasosopo's attorney, Milton Grimes, who suggested that the person on the other end of the line with Manti Te'o for months was in fact Tuiasosopo himself.
The newspaper is reporting that it was actually Tuiasosopo's cousin, Tino, who was playing the role of "Lennay Kekua". One of their cousins has supposedly come forward after hearing the voicemails on 'Katie' yesterday, claiming the voice belongs to Tino and that Ronaiah must be "determined to take the rap".
From the NY Post:
Tino assumed her role in the Te’o ruse after she was dumped from a long-distance relationship with another man — and there were “extraordinary similarities” between the two situations, a source said.
The man broke off the relationship in late 2011.
“She said it was OK, because she was doing better. She said she was talking to another person [and] he plays football for Notre Dame — number 5, Manti,” a source recalled.
Hopefully we're starting to get to the bottom of this.
