Tuesday morning, Notre Dame officially unveiled its new home and away uniforms for the 2014 season – the first that the Irish have been partnered with Under Armour. As many fans noted, the apparel manufacturer only made a few subtle changes to the program’s tradition look. Tuesday afternoon, the school dropped the ‘Shamrock Series’ threads that its players will wear for the game against Purdue at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. There is nothing subtle about them.
For the first time in school history, Notre Dame will have an interlocking “ND” on its helmets. The blue and gold color scheme is also on display like never before. Here are some photos and a school-produced video with some commentary on the inspiration for the look. Under Armour focused on the school’s “golden dome” in The Main Building for much of the concept.
