Update: So it appears that Notre Dame will not release Vanderdoes from his National Letter of Intent, but that Vanderdoes' departure to UCLA will just be part of an unusual transfer process, according to ESPN's Joe Schad:
Earlier: Finally, a little bit of closure to the Eddie Vanderdoes "saga" at Notre Dame -- the Fighting Irish have lifted their recruiting ban on Vanderdoes, which will allow the California native to sign with the UCLA Bruins, according to Joe Davidson of the Sacramento Bee:
Vanderdoes had committed to play football at Notre Dame on National Signing Day, but soon after, an undisclosed issue arose that caused him to reconsider the commitment. Notre Dame had planned on making Vanderdoes honor his commitment, or else follow standard transfer protocol if he wanted to leave the school, but it appears that is no longer the case.
Vanderdoes is a former five-star defensive lineman, and was one of the most sought after recruits in the country -- UCLA fans everywhere should be celebrating.
