Report: Notre Dame Wants To Move Texas Game From 2019 After Scheduling Georgia Series

Notre Dame and Georgia announced a 2017/2019 home-and-home series on Wednesday, but that second date creates some issues for the Irish schedule. Notre Dame is set to play four games against the Texas Longhorns including one in Austin in 2019. The second Georgia game creates a bit of a log-jam there, along with all of Notre Dame's existing rivalries and ACC slate.

The South Bend Tribune caught up with Notre Dame's associate athletic director John Heisler, who says that the school will try to adjust the dates on the Texas series.

“We’re hopeful that we can move those games somewhere down the road into the next decade,” Heisler said. “We’re trying to create as much variety as we possibly can and let our fans see as many teams as they can.”

In addition to the Georgia and Texas games scheduled for 2019 as of today, the Irish have Navy and USC coming to South Bend, as well as a trip to Stanford in 2019.
