According to Pete Sampson of Scout, Notre Dame quarterback Malik Zaire is expected to be released by the school and look to land at a new school as a graduate transfer.
Zaire is a senior at Notre Dame, but is set to graduate in December and still has one year of eligibility remaining.
According to a source, the senior quarterback will meet with head coach Brian Kelly on Wednesday morning, at which point Zaire should get his formal release from the University to pursue a graduate transfer.
Last season, Zaire won the first two games of the season as the Irish starting quarterback with 428 passing yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions. He was injured in the second game against Virginia breaking his ankle and never fully returned as Notre Dame’s quarterback as DeShone Kizer took over.
This season, Zaire had 122 yards passing and one passing touchdown. His lone start this year was at wide receiver for the Irish.
