Caitlin Clark's Teammate Might Want Out Following WNBA Playoff Loss

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark may have a new supporting cast next season.

The Fever had their 2024 season come to an end on Wednesday night, dropping a win-or-go-home game against the Connecticut Sun. Clark played well, scoring 25 points and dishing out nine assists. And yet, it wasn't enough to force a Game 3.

With the Fever's season officially over, fans are speculating about NaLyssa Smith's future in Indiana.

Smith, a former No. 2 pick from Baylor, averaged 10.6 points and 7.1 rebounds per game this season. Both totals were down from last year.

Even though Smith played an integral role during the regular season, she received minimal playing time in the postseason. In fact, she played a combined 13 minutes in two games against the Sun.

While it's possible that Christie Sides didn't like the matchup for Smith, fans are convinced the Baylor product will be off the roster before the start of the 2025 season.

"Time to trade or cut Nalyssa Smith," one fan tweeted following Game 2.

Another fan said, "Fever might have to trade Nalyssa Smith this summer, not gonna lie."

After the Fever got eliminated from the playoffs, Smith turned her focus over to her partner, Sun guard DiJonai Carrington. She said fans were sending Carrington death threats for no reason.

"Now that i can respond freely, my girlfriend has been getting death threats, followed , called all type of [expletive]. so if sending her flowers to make sure her mental health is okay then coo cry about it," Smith wrote on X

Perhaps we'll see Smith and Carrington join forces next season.
