Andy Reid Accused Of 'Stealing' From The Dallas Cowboys

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is facing playful accusations of "stealing" from the legendary Dallas Cowboys on Christmas Day.

The Chiefs topped the Steelers, 29-10, at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh on Christmas Day. Kansas City, which has won back-to-back Super Bowls, improved to 15-1 on the season with the win. The Chiefs are going to be the No. 1 seed in the AFC and the likely frontrunner to win the Super Bowl for the third straight season heading into the postseason. Kansas City will wrap up its regular season next weekend, taking on the Denver Broncos in Week 18.

Reid, who has led the Chiefs to three Super Bowl wins, had quite the postgame outfit on Wednesday afternoon. The 66-year-old NFL head coach rocked a Santa Claus outfit in the locker room following his team's big win on Wednesday.

Reid, dressed up in his best Santa Claus outfit, had a cool postgame message for the Chiefs players on Wednesday afternoon. But did he steal a classic phrase from the Dallas Cowboys?

"How 'bout those Chiefs?! That's what I'm talking about. Merry Christmas everybody, proud of you. For the present, you get home field advantage," Reid told his players.

How Bout Them Cowboys, of course, is one of the most iconic phrases in NFL history.

The phrase was started by former Dallas Cowboys head coach Jimmy Johnson, who led Jerry Jones' franchise to two Super Bowls in the 1990s. He first uttered the "How Bout Them Cowboys!" phrase following a playoff win over the San Francisco 49ers in 1993.

The Cowboys were taking on the 49ers in the NFC Championship Game that year. It was the first playoff meeting between the two iconic NFL franchises since Joe Montana hooked up with Dwight Clark for "The Catch” in the 1981 NFC title game.

Dallas ended up topping San Francisco, 30-20, to advance to the Super Bowl.

Johnson ended up jumping up in the postgame locker room and gave an impromptu speech, that has since become part of NFL lore.

"I don't mean to put a damper on it. No, no, no. But you understand we do have one game left to play. Hey, fantastic, fantastic, fantastic, every single one of 'ya. I'm not just talking about these last 60 minutes. I'm talking about the quarterback schools, the minicamp, the offseason, the training camp, down in Austin when it was hot and you were tired. The whole bit. Everybody, you did one hell of a job, and the only thing else I've got to say is … How bout them Cowboys!" Johnson said.

The phrase became symbolic with the Dallas Cowboys 1990s dynasty. It's been uttered by Jimmy Johnson, Jerry Jones, Michael Irvin and more - to this day. Of course, the Cowboys and their fans haven't had much reason to utter that phrase this century - they haven't been to the NFC Championship Game or Super Bowl since the 1990s - but that hasn't stopped them.

Perhaps Reid and the Chiefs are better owners of it for now.
